Lofoten Islands - Norway
Don’t forget to pack your camera, as you embark into one of Norway’s most visually spectacular locations. Norway is famed for its fjords and mountains, and the Lofoten Islands are home to some of the country’s most epic examples of these two natural features. Postcard-worthy fishing villages adorn the coastlines, in the shadow of colossal mountains that tower over the picturesque bays. The E10 road is a designated Travel Tourist Route and allows visitors to travel the entire length of the archipelago of islands. This is the best way to take in the glorious scenery, including sheltered beach bays and the iconic wooden drying racks in every village which fishing communities have used to dry the cod which has long fuelled the islands. Visit the Viking Museum to discover the islands intriguing Viking past, and take to the seas to see the incredible sight of whales surfacing in the striking bays.
